QR code business cards

One scan. A better introduction.

A QR code business card gives someone a quick way to open your contact details. Create your card in Relay, publish it, then share its QR code from your screen or save the QR image for printed materials.

How a QR code business card works

Your Relay QR code points to your published digital card. Someone scans it with their phone camera and opens the link in a browser. They can view your visible contact methods, save your details as a contact, or send their own details back.

The QR code is a shortcut to a web page, so the recipient needs an internet connection to open it. No Relay account or app is required to view the card or reply.

Share from your phone or a printed card

Show your QR code during an introduction, put a saved QR image on a printed business card, or use it on a presentation or event sign. A short link beside the QR code gives people another way to open your card.

For print, leave clear space around the code and keep it large enough to scan comfortably. Avoid placing it on a busy image or using colours with little contrast. The card behind the code can carry your fuller details, so the printed surface can stay simple.

Change your details without replacing the QR code

Relay keeps the same public link when you edit an existing card. Its QR code continues to open that link, so you can update a role, website or contact method without replacing the code.

Keep the original card if you want an existing QR code to continue working. Deleting it retires the link permanently. Unpublishing makes the card unavailable until you publish it again.

Details already saved to a recipient’s address book remain their own copy. The QR code opens the latest published card; it does not rewrite previously saved contacts.

Choose the right card before you share

You may want a work card for a conference and a project card for a meetup. Each published Relay card has its own link and QR code. Choose the card that contains the details you want that person to receive.

Enable replies if you would like to collect their details too. Replies arrive in your private Connections, where notes and tags can help with your next conversation.

A link-based QR code or a contact QR code?

A QR code can contain contact details directly, or it can open a web page. Relay uses a link to your card. This lets you update the page and offer browser replies, but opening it requires internet access.

If your priority is exchanging contact data with no internet at all, a QR code containing the contact itself has a different tradeoff: the encoded details cannot change without generating a new code. Choose the approach that fits where you will use it.

Questions before you start?

Are QR codes included in Relay’s Free plan?

Yes. The Free plan includes QR and link sharing for your two cards. Visitors can open a published card and save your contact details without a Relay account.

Can I print my Relay QR code?

Yes. Save your card’s QR image and add it to your printed materials. Keep the same card published so the printed code continues to open its link.

Does a Relay QR code work offline?

You can show a saved QR code offline in the iPhone app. The person scanning it needs an internet connection to open the linked card.

Start with two free cards.

All designs. Link and QR sharing. Room for different sides of you.
